The City of Peterborough Waste Management Calendar was designed in the recent tradition that uses vintage photos from the Peterborough Museum & Archives Photo Collection. However, we did take a new view of the calendar design by simplifying the messages and making the important dates easy to read and find. We also added colour in a new way that changes the look from previous years quite dramatically.
Thanks to their background research and information on the images selected for this calendar, we were able to select appropriate images that suited each month. This Calendar features photography from the Balsillie Collection of Roy Studio Images. The collection includes 300,000 glass plate and film negatives, captured by three consecutive generations of the Roy Family. The images document all aspects of life in the Peterborough area for nearly a century (1896-1992). This nationally significant collection was purchased for the City in 2000 with the generous assistance of Mr. Jim Balsillie, a former resident of Peterborough. The collection is managed by the Peterborough Museum & Archives.
